Have you ever been intimidated while purchasing coffee gear? Have you thought to yourself, “I wish someone would just tell me what to buy so that I can be sure I’m making a good choice?” Well, friends, this post is for you! That’s EXACTLY what we’re gonna do now!

Admittedly, it can be difficult to find awesome coffee gear under one storefront; a lot of amazing gear manufacturers sell directly via their own sites, so it’s tough to put it all together sometimes.

That’s why we felt like we needed to make a list on here of great products we use every day that can actually be purchased on AMAZON. And they WILL make your home brewing experience sooooo much better!

1. iSpring 6 Stage Reverse Osmosis System. You cannot brew good coffee without using good water. This system was super easy to install. Took about 1 hour, and would have taken less if I was using a better drill bit to drill through the sink. It has different options, but we purchased the 6 stage system—meaning that it has a post filter to partially re-mineralize your water. Certain minerals can actually be beneficial to not only your health but can also be tasty in coffee! One thing’s for sure—chlorine and fluoride don’t taste good in coffee. Yuck. Let’s get that stuff outta there.

2. OXO 9. Cup Coffee Brewer. Wow. Just wow. This is definitely the best our coffee has ever tasted from a home coffee maker. If you read our other blog on brewing coffee at home, you will know that most home coffee makers are NOT designed to brew fresh coffee; as such, it’s tough to find one that actually can brew 8+ cups, make it taste fantastic and NOT get grounds in the decanter. This one does all of that and more! It also has a programmable timer so you can set it the night before and wake up to great coffee. It went through the rigorous certification to be listed as an SCA approved home brewer—meaning it makes great coffee.

3. OXO Brew Scale: OXO is kicking some major butt in the home coffee scene, and this scale is no exception. It is great for weighing coffee, making pour overs, Clevers, French Presses, Chemexes…anything where precision is required. We have been super happy with ours, and the quality can’t be beat for the price.

4. TDS Water Meter: Still don’t believe me on the water? Using one of these meters will show you just how much stuff shouldn’t be in your water. 0-50 ppm is a good reading for ideal water. Ours reads at 15 ppm using the iSpring system above—and the 15 ppm reading is due to the good minerals being added back in. For a Reverse Osmosis without a re-mineralizing filter, it should be closer to 0 ppm. Want to know what our unfiltered sink water is? 350 ppm. Yikes.

5. HARIO v60 Metal Dripper Size 02: We've been using ours for years, and we love the durability of the metal version. It is lightweight and takes abuse. We use ours for home, for camping, for work. I still think the v60 makes one of the tastiest pour overs. Make sure you buy the size 02 filters for this one, as the 01 size are too small. Plus, we have a video here showing how to use it—with our recipes.

We hope this has been helpful and that these products make your life better! We only recommend products we believe in. And, as always, ask us anything! We’d love to hear from you and connect with you!
